Within Review

Within is a virtual reality application and corresponding platform that allows users to watch and interact with content for free inside their VR headsets. The content includes documentaries, music videos, animations, and much more. It currently works exclusively on the Oculus Go and Oculus Quest platforms.

Within’s best feature is its sheer variety of well-produced content. Like most streaming apps, it can be hard to find something you like after watching one or two shows; however Within offers such a wide selection that the user will almost inevitably stumble across at least one show they enjoy in each search session. For each video within Within’s massive library, there is also an option to purchase additional episodes (if applicable); this provides another opportunity to monetize by allowing users to watch entire miniseries or other similar shows at their own pace.

The platform itself is very user-friendly, which makes for a nice experience even if you are using it off of your VR headset. Within’s website is also surprisingly feature-packed. For example, the website offers in-depth video synopses and articles about different artists in the Within library in addition to extended information about their physical releases (if applicable).

The content available isn’t quite as good as what Netflix or Amazon Prime Video has to offer; however, it does well enough that this alone will not stop someone from buying Within if they own an Oculus Go/Quest anyway. The real question when considering whether or not to purchase Within comes down to three factors: price, content, and experience.

Within is a great app for users who want to casually explore VR while watching a show on a big screen in a virtual theater. However, Within will not be enough to convince anyone that does not already own an Oculus device to buy one solely for accessing the app. At its current price tag of free with in-app purchases, Within provides major value for people who own an Oculus Go/Quest already, but if you don’t have either of those headsets already then it would probably be better off as part of your entertainment package rather than being purchased separately. Content: Good (but not quite Netflix or Amazon Prime Video level)

For each video on the Within platform, there is an option to purchase additional episodes (if applicable). This provides another opportunity to monetize by allowing users to watch entire miniseries or other similar shows at their own pace.

Experience: Casual entertainment

Within’s best feature is its sheer variety of well-produced content. The user will almost inevitably stumble across at least one show they enjoy in each search session. Users can also relax in a virtual theater while watching their favorite shows with friends over Within’s various social features which allow friends/family to chat and interact with each other during playback.

Conclusion: ” Is it worth buying? ” Buy this if you already have an Oculus Go/Quest, otherwise buy only if you’re looking for casual VR entertainment
