Oculus TV Review

The Oculus Quest 2 is the newest VR headset made by Oculus, and it’s a huge leap in VR technology. I’ve had countless hours of fun playing games like ‘ Beat Saber ‘, ‘Superhot VR’, and even socializing with friends on Facebook. But, one of the most under-exploited features of the Oculus Quest 2 is its built-in TV app called ‘Oculus TV’.

What makes this virtual reality television program different from your normal television? Well for starters, you get to sit in a virtual movie theater or in your own personal living room while watching your favorite shows! It even has a premium service called X-Films that gives users access to hundreds of new movies each month. What makes it unique to other VR apps, though, is the fact that Oculus TV has over 100 live channels. From Animal Planet to Nickelodeon and ESPN, you can watch your favorite shows as if they were actually on television! This function has been invaluable to me due to my busy college schedule because I can now catch up on episodes of ‘ Family Guy ‘, ‘ American Dad ‘, and even binge watch some old seasons of ‘ House ‘.

Is this app perfect? Of course not; there are a few technical flaws. For example, sometimes when switching from channel to channel using the included remote control, the video will stutter for a second or two – an inconvenience at most – but overall it’s still a fantastic new technology for the Oculus Quest 2.

The Final Verdict on Oculus TV

After testing it out myself, I must say that ‘Oculus TV’ is one of my favorite apps on the Oculus Quest 2 due to its convenience and simplified nature. I especially recommend this app for people who have a lot of free time during their college schedules because you can finally catch up on all your favorite shows in virtual reality! In short, I give ‘Oculus TV’ a 10/10 review.
