Golf 5 eClub Review

When I first received the Oculus Quest, my very first thought was “I need to get games for this”. I went ahead and did that, but then everything changed when I found out that Golf 5 eClub would be available on May 21st. The eClub version of the golf game is only available to people with an active eClub subscription. At first, I was disappointed, but I looked into the monthly eClub subscription cost and decided that it wasn’t that much more than if I were to buy a new game each month.

So, I went ahead and subscribed for a year.

The first thing you notice when you start the game is how beautiful everything looks. Everything from the flowers on the course to even your own golf bag has been faithfully recreated in VR. When you look at them up close they almost pop off of your screen! Sound plays a huge role in the immersion of the game. From the sound of putting on a beautiful green to the crunch of your cleats as you walk, this attention to detail is amazing.

The developers have even included additional games in addition to just golf. I have already spent hours playing WIPP (Wood, Iron, Pitch & Putt) and mini-golf. The controls for golf work perfectly and the learning curve isn’t too steep.

In conclusion, if you have been thinking about buying this game I would say go ahead and give it a try. A 10-hour one week trial is available in the Oculus store and there is also a 15-day free trial that lets you play any course up to par. The beauty of the game is worth it alone, but you also get access to all future updates (no extra charge), online tournaments (weekly and monthly with multiple skill levels), and the ability to compete for trophies!

This game gets 5 stars from me. I can’t wait until more courses are released!
