Ballista Review

The story of the game is a little difficult to understand, but it’s really cool. You’re a Pretorius soldier who has a lot of missions where you have to go in and kill monsters that are going wild. At least that is what I think it is about. There isn’t much dialogue or character development in this game, so not a lot of story really.

The combat is a little similar to the spear in the abyss which allows you to do a charge attack. The charge-up is long, but it can kill multiple enemies at once if they are close enough together. There isn’t any reloading in this game, so it doesn’t hold your hand and tell you what to do. You can go explore the open world and find many different types of weapons, but it isn’t clear what does what. All you know is that you need to kill all these monsters and save the town!

The oculus quest version of this game makes use of two joysticks for movement and aiming. This may be a little confusing at first but tests out to be a pretty simple system once you understand it. There are some issues when it comes to the camera though, so looking around in this game may be very disorienting at times

The graphics in this game are cartoonish and not very good. The character models don’t resemble their human counterparts and the textures look flat and very simple. This may be a turnoff for some people, but it doesn’t bother me as much as I still think the combat system is decent and you can tell what everything is.

I would rate this game 7 out of 10 stars. It is a very fun and addicting dungeon crawler with a lot of depth to the combat system. However there isn’t much story going on so you have to use your imagination for most of the game.
