AltspaceVR Review

AltspaceVR is the world’s best VR social network. At least, that’s what they say on their website.

Unsurprisingly, Altspace has a similar layout to Second Life, but I found it much more interesting than SL for one reason: It works on Oculus Quest.

The reason why this is so important is because of how popular SL is among VR communities. Among those fans, AltspaceVR has a great name as well, and it’s a shame not to be able to use it on Quest.

The game itself works like any other social platform: It lets you host your own space or join another player’s space (in which case you can chat together).

There are also activities to play with others (darts, paintball…), which work fine too if not excellent; They need more interactive objects though! Maybe they will add them along the way.

One of the most interesting features is how you can watch movies with other people in the same room, which might be a good replacement for Netflix. Watching TV shows together was a lot of fun too, and I’ve met some very nice avatars playing trivia games!

This is a free game but also a paid one: Once you buy it, you’ll be able to host events and meet your friends anytime! And if they don’t have Quest yet, well… That’s an even better excuse for giving them gifts.

In conclusion, AltspaceVR is an extremely well-made VR social network that should definitely make me forget about my old InWorldz community (which went down last year). The only problem right nowis the lack of avatars, but I’m sure they will be a lot more fun after a few updates.
